Rs 5 lakh relief confirmed for 3 killed in Oct 30 blast

IMPHAL, November 2: The state Cabinet has announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the families of the three deceased who was killed in the bomb blast at Hicham Yaicham Pat, Moirangkhom on October 30.

The decision was taken during a meeting held this evening at the conference hall of Chief Minister’s Secretariate which was chaired by the Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh.

It may be mentioned that three van drivers plying along the Imphal-Moreh route were killed while five others sustained serious injuries. The deceased van drivers were identified as Laishram Brojen of Palce Compound, Holthang Touthang of Sugunu Bijang village but presently staying at Langol Game Village and Laishram Rajen of Kakwa Naorem Leikai.

During the meeting, Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar informed that the Cabinet decided to give ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the families of the three persons killed considering the grievances of the deceased’s families and Rs 10000 each for those who were injured in the blast.

He further said the state Cabinet in the meeting also decided to accommodate the required manpower and infrastructure so that the Food Security and Standard Act, 2006 could be implemented in the state effectively.

Accordingly, various required posts will be filled up to do the needful and those posts which already existed will also be re-designated. To enhance the act, one Food Security Officer will be posted in all the nine districts of the state and Jiribam and Moreh sub-divisions and the earlier nine numbers of Deputy Food Security Commissioners will also be increased to ten to facilitate its workforce, the minister informed.

He also informed that along with the creation of new 17 posts, direct recruitment for the 29 posts of Office Assistant cum Computer Operator, 20 posts for Food Testing Laboratory, 29 posts for Peon cum Pecker, 29 posts for driver and 13 posts for Sweeper cum Chawkidar will also be conducted.

Dr Ratan Kumar further announced that the Cabinet also approved the appointment of 40 Inspectors and Farm Overseers, two Mechanics and a Store Keeper under the Manipur Sericulture Project on contract basis.
