Police general public cooperation is a must for development : Chief Minister
Imphal, Oct 19 (UNA): “Police should be the persons that public feel safe and sound when they show them” said Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh while delivering his speech during the observation of the 120th Raising Day anniversary celebration of the Manipur Police today at 1st Manipur Rifle ground.
Speaking at the occasion chief minister further said the police public relation is very important aspect of modern day policing. Public should feel safe and secure when they see the police personnel and said the police personnel to be extremely cautious and courteous while taking action under the law.
Chief Minister also praised the effort of the Manipur Police in combating various threats to internal security. The Manipur Police force was reckoned as the best force in the state and country. And further said it has earned a great reputation for itself in dealing with the complex day-to-day law and order problems.
And further urged the general public, to co-operate with the state force in every movement of eye-catching of anti law armed group in the state added the CM.
Director General Police (DGP) state Home department also urge the police personnel of the state to carry out their duties with utmost devotional, courage, conviction and professionalism.
In today raising day celebration of Manipur Police, at least 18 March Past contingent from different units of Manipur Police led by 5th IRB commandant HT Gangte as Parade commander.
And during the function Chief Minister O. Ibobi Singh distributed DGP commendation awards to 97 police officer of the state Home department for their excellent performance in counter insurgency operation and law and order duties.
In the meantime it may mentioned that the Manipur Police raising day was started since 1892 on this day, and the genesis of the State Military Police took place with FL Crawford as the Commandant and just 14 local officers, 49 NCOs and 400 sepoys.
During the celebration state Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker, Council of Minister, Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs and high ranking civil and police official were also present during the function.
