Sadar Hills Kuki Inpi and CSOs demand for full-fledged district to Governor

Imphal, November 4: Once again the civil societies of Sadar Hills, Senapati district on Monday demanded for a full-fledged district of Sadar Hills to the Governor of Manipur, Ashwani Kumar.

The Governor in-charge of Manipur, Ashwani Kumar today visited Kangpokpi on his way to Kohima, Nagaland at about 11am where a simple function was organized at ADC Complex Multi Purpose hall which was attended by top officials of Addl. DC office Kangpkopi, members of ADC Sadar Hills, student’s bodies and various civil societies of Sadar Hills.

During the function Ashwani Kumar who is also the Governor of Nagaland said that he is much aware of 1971 ADC Act and is very much concern about it, demanding of more power for the ADC by its members is genuine.

Classifying the government in three steps the Governor said that Centre, state and district government is there out of which district government is most important as it start from the grass root level, if the district fail the state automatically fail and so on and Senapati district is the only district throughout the country which has two ADC.

Observing the Kangpokpi town Ashwani Kumar stated that there is very less to see the improvement development structure or work.

The Governor further assured that he will do whatever he can for Kangpokpi or Sadar Hills during his tenure and will keep in heart and soul.

From the first time when he came down to Manipur to take his oath as Governor he was attracted by the Kangpokpi town on his way, since then he has planned to visit at the earliest and today I got the opportunity to visit said the Governor.

During the nearly two hour stay by the governor the ADC members also put up their grievances by stating that after a gap of 20 years ADC election was conducted again but after fully formation of the ADC it stay back only for a name shake without any power to the members.

The KSO- Sadar Hills also demands for a Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police for Sadar Hills as the student can get more development in their future studies.

Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills (KISH), Kangpokpi Town Committee (KTC), Kangpokpi Woman Welfare Organization (KWWO) and Kangpokpi Youth Union (KYU) led in demanding Sadar Hills to be announce full-fledged district as early as possible.

At the same time KTC, KWWO and KYU submit a memorandum to the governor with a five point of charter demand.
