Infuriated mob storms JNIMS, claiming medical negligence
IMPHAL, May 11: A patient succumbed to his illness allegedly due to the doctor’s negligence following which an enraged mob stormed JNIMS demanding that befitting action should be taken up against the doctor involved in the incident.
However, no untoward incident did not occur since Porompat police and Imphal East CDO took up precautionary measures. The deceased has been identified as Karam Bishorjit (40), son of Rajo Kongba Kshetri Leikai. According to the family source, the deceased Bishorjit complained of throat pain yesterday at around 10 a.m. after which he and his wife went to the JNIMS OPD for his treatment. A doctor on OPD duty told them that a minor operation would have to be performed. But Bishorjit died at aound 9.30 p.m. following the minor operation which the doctor said was because of a heart attack.
Following the death of Bishorjit, the disgruntled public of the area stormed JNIMS demanding that befitting action be taken up against the doctor involved in the operation.
