Drugs continue to be seized along Imphal-Moreh highway


IMPHAL, May 11: Two women have been arrested along with 3 packets of heroin number 4 drug worth 2.25 lakhs in the international market by a team of Pallel police Commando during a frisking and checking in front of the police check post Pallel bazaar today around 4.30 pm.

According to police source, the two women were coming from Moreh in a suspicious manner towards Imphal side when a team of Pallel police commando along with women police personal of the Pallel check post stopped the Maruti Van in which the two were traveling. A careful check on the van bearing registration number AS01AR-8399 led to the discovery of the three packets of Heroin.

The two women have been identified as Angom Ningol Nongthongbam Ongbi Memi devi (35), wife of N Budai Singh of Changangei Awang Leikai a small time cloth trader of Moreh and Lubuanlui Kamei alias Memi (32), wife of Longjam Inaocha Singh of Yairipok Kekru Mathak Leikai at present staying at rented house at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai, also a cloth trader.

According to the police, N Memi revealed that the drug consignment was handed over to them by Mumu, a Myanmarese woman at Khundengthabi who asked them to hand over the drug consignment to her elder sister at Moirangkhom area. The owner of the Maruti Van is identified as Makakmayum Umar (27), son of MK Simray of Lilong Haoribi.                

The arrest of the two women follows on the heels of another person who has been arrested along with 4320 pieces of spasmo proxyvon (SP) capsules by a team of the Lilong police and Thoubal Police commandos attached to the Lilong police station today. The arrest was made during a frisking and checking exercise at Lilong Masjid Road.

Speaking to the media at his officer chamber Inspector S M Hussain Ahmad, officer in-charge Lilong police said that a combined police team saw one Honda city car bearing registration number MN04A-5623 coming in a suspicious manner at around 9. 30 am today. Upon a check on the car, the police personnel found 15 packets of SP capsules with each packet containing 288 SP capsules he said.

The arrested person has been identified as Md Sahabuddin Alias Abo (35), son of Md Nijammuddin of Lilong Tairen Makhong. A case has been registered by the Lilong police under FIR number 35(5) 2012 under section 22/29 of the ND&PS act.
