French Agency to Impart Essential Skills in Aviation Accident Investigation

New Delhi: The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Bureau d’ Enquetes et d’ Analysis (BEA) of France have come together to jointly conduct and organise a Seminar on “Aircraft Accident/Incident Investigation Techniques and Management Course” .

K. N. Shrivastava, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation inaugurated the Seminar at Indian Aviation Academy, New Delhi today. The Seminar is actively being conducted and organized by Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) under Ministry of Civil Aviation.The Course which started on 1st October, 2012 will conclude on 4th October, 2012.

Approximately 50 participants belonging to AAIB, DGCA, AAI, different Airlines, Airport Operators and Air Accident Investigation Experts are attending the seminar. The 3-day course, which has been developed in close collaboration with the accident investigation community, pools considerable expertise and experience of investigators, operators and researchers to deliver a level of training of the highest standards. The training imparted by BEA, who are the world leaders in aviation accident investigations, deals with fundamentals skills required by an accident investigator and reflects the modern trends in accident investigation. It will make our investigators better equipped to conduct well researched, credible and world class investigations.

AAIB was constituted in the Ministry of Civil Aviation by promulgating the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents & Incidents) Rules, 2012 on 05.07.2012 so as to separate accident investigation functions from DGCA, which is a safety regulator.
