‘India’s Huge Infrastructural Deficit is Our Biggest Challenge’

New Delhi: Union Minister for Urban Development, Shri Kamal Nath has said that huge infrastructural deficit is the biggest challenge for India. He said that multitude of young population constantly moving from villages to cities to fulfil their aspiration thereby needing more infrastructure. Shri Kamal Nath was inaugurating “Infrastructure Conclave 2012” organised by PHD Chamber in New Delhi today. He said that India’s growth succeeded the actual infrastructural growth and to bridge that gap, we need to adopt best practices for us to be able to take that quantum jump for a paradigm shift. Working on bankable PPP models of various types must be considered, that can bring in private sector funding, he added.

Shri Sandip Somany, President of PHD Chamber, Shri Rajeev Talwar, Chairman of the Housing and Urban Development Committee at the Chamber and others also spoke on the occasion. The theme of the Conclave was “Opportunities and Challenges in India’s Infrastructure Growth”. The day-long deliberation was attended by various stake-holders connected with the infrastructure sector. Shri Kamal Nath also released a Research Report on this occasion.
