Former village Chief in Chandel district shot dead

Chandel,Oct 1: A former village chief of Lamlong Khullen in Chandel district was shot dead by a suspected NSCN (IM) on the intervention night of Sunday-Monday said a police source.

The deceased was identified as Modun Maring 43 year’s son of Late Kh. Menai under the Tengnoupal Police station. The death body was handed over to the family after the post mortem.

Modun Maring is said to be in a close associate and active worker of DK Korungthang, MLA of Tengnoupal Assembly constituency said reliable sources.

He was staying with his second wife Toningnai’s when incident took place sources added.

The dead body bore a bullet injury mark on his head and chest, but till the filling of this news report the reason behind the killing could not be ascertain.
