Security forces arrest seven UGs

Imphal, Oct 01: At least three women cadres of a banned PREPAK-PRO have been arrested along with arms and ammunition by a combined team of security forces here in Imphal within the last 24 hours said Addl. SP Imphal East on Monday.

The addl. SP who was briefing the media person said that base on a specific input received from 28th Assam Rifles and Imphal East Police Commando intelligent reports regarding the presence of some antisocial elements suspected to be women cadres of PREEPAK-PRO in and around Hatta area in Imphal East, team of Imphal East Manipur Police Commandos launched a counter Insurgency operation in the said area.

In the said operation three active women members were apprehended along with large number of arms and ammunition.

According to the addl. SP, it was came to light when the three women disclosed that one self style 2nd Lieutenant Yaima of PREEPAK-PRO instructed them over phone from Myanmar to disperse explosive materials in connection with the upcoming raising day celebration of PREEPAK-PRO which falls on 9th October.

The arms and ammunition which were recovered included one hand grenade, 500 grams of PEK explosives, one electronic detonator with wire and three numbers of mobile phones.

On the other hand a statement issue by the Imphal West district superintendent of police said that yesterday a team of Imphal west district police commandos conducted a search cordon operation at Nganapithong, Kakwa bazaar and Heirangoithong areas and arrested four cadres of active members of KCP (Pakhanglakpa) and KCP (Noyon) from various locations.

The arrested persons of KCP (Pakhanlakpa) are indentified as Loitongbam Khamba @ Ibomcha @ Luwang Singh (44) s/o L. Lilasing of Nambol Ishok Maning Leikai, Chingakham (N) Loitongbam (O) Premila alias Thembi Devi (32) w/o of L Khamba of Nambol Ishok Maning Leikai, Oinam Nelson alias Thoi alais John (20) s/o (L) O. Nelachandra singh of Pishum Oinam Leikai.

And the two other cadres of the KCP (Noyon) are Huiningshubam Mochabi alias Leeboy (24) s/o H. Lumanjao of Kakwa Bazar and Tekcham SHibakanta aka Thoi Singh (27) s/o T. Tompok of Heirangoithong Keibung Oinam Leikai added the statement.
