Thousands of students stage protest rally

Churachandpur, Sep 24: Thousands of students and public took out a protest rally against the government for failing to book ex-MLA Sehpu Haokip and also decided to ban government offices and any related works with government in Churachandpur district on Monday.
The protest rally was organized by the joint action committee against the killing of Henkhothang Haokip, Chief of S Nabil village, Churachandpur. And supported by joint students’ body including, Hmar Student Union (HSA), Zou Student Federation (ZSF), Churanchandpur District Student Union (CDSU), Gangte Student Organization (GSO) and Kuki Student Organization (KSO).
A head of the rally started effigies of the three killers namely Sehpu Haokip ex-MLA, Lamkhomang and Thangkholal were burned by the gathering at Public Ground, just after the speech of the deputy commissioner of Churachandpur district, Jacintha Lazarus, who come to address the gathering to appeal for peace in the district.
During the 6 km long possession the students and the public shouted a slogan like "we want justice", "punished Sehpu", "arrest Sehpu" thronged the air in the street.
Placards written "Sehpu!! Osama of Churachandpur", "If the government fail who will protect us", "Beware!! Killer at large", "we want to live in peace arrest the killer" etc were to be seen holding by the students with their full uniforms.
After the rally was over the JAC and the joint student’s body decided to ban government offices from tomorrow as a part of their agitation.
In the sideline of the rally the killed village chief son Nehlenlal Haokip, said to the media persons that the JAC has demanded the immediate arrest of the three killer and to awarded a lifetime imprisonment for justice and safety of the general public, to provide security to the eye witness and bereaved family, to arrest the persons involved directly or indirectly in the cold blooded murder and to book them according to the law and to cease all the properties belonging to Sehpu Haokip and monitor his personnel and relative banks accounts to prevent future crime till justice is delivered.
But till today the government did not take up any action against killers nor to the demands of the JAC so to protect our self seven to ten person always accompanied him wherever he go where they use to hide iron rod, knife, log for our self protection added Nehlenlal.
The rally started off from Public ground and ended at the deputy commissioner office campus where they submit a memorandum to addl. DC.
