Another blast trembles Tidim Road
IMPHAL, Sep 23 : For the second time within this month, a bomb exploded along Tidim road near Tidim ground this afternoon even as another bomb (IED) was detected.
According to information culled from the spot, a bomb planted near a boroi (a type of berry) tree on the side of Tidim ground went off at about 12.20 pm.
The explosive had either timer device or remote-control device. Though it was not of very high intensity type, its impact was concentrated on a single direction and it did not have any splinter.
The impact of the explosion went towards the ground. The boroi tree as well as the shrubs growing in the spot showed signs of being ravaged by the impact of the explosion.
Earlier, another bomb was detected at about 7.30 in the morning. The bomb was retrieved by police.
Notably, another bomb planted on the road median, a little distance away from today’s blast site, exploded in the morning of September 8 in which one personnel of 18th Sikh Regiment and a civilian were injured.
Meanwhile, denouncing the September 21 grenade attack at the residence of PDA AE Loitongbam Kesho, local womenfolk staged a protest demonstration at Konjeng Langpoklakpam Leikai today.
In fact, the spot where the grenade exploded was near an outhouse of Iboyaima, Kesho’s elder brother.
The two brothers have their houses next to each other in North-South direction. Whereas Kesho is an engineer, Iboyaima is a peasant. It was not the first time Kesho’s house was attacked grenades and firearms.
While decrying the grenade attack in heavily populated civilian areas, the protesters also appealed to all concerned to avoid recurrence of such incidents in future. They further appealed to explain as to who carried out the grenade attack and why.
