RPF/PLA cadres arrested along with party flags

Imphal, Sep 24:A combined team of commandos Imphal East and Thoubal District police, Army (Mmilitary Intelligence) and 28 AR conducted a search operation in general areas of Thoubal district Yairipok and arrested three active member of RPF with RPF/PLA flags and a mobile phone said polic sourc on Monday.

This was said by the Superintendent of Police, Imphal east district Kamei Angam Romanus IPS, while briefing to media persons at his office chamber, porompat.

As a part of counter insurgency operation which have been launched by the commandos Imphal east district as precautionary and preventive measurement against the back drop of recent series of bomb blast and hand grenade explosion since 15th August, in the valley areas and to dispute any program initiated by the RPF/PLA in connection with the Raising Day Celebration which will be held on 25th Sept added the SP.
Today early morning at about 5 am, the combine team of security conducted a search operation in the areas of Andro Torongthel, Maringthel and Yambem village, during the operation three active member of proscribe militant RPF were arrested with four numbers of RPF/PLA flags and one mobile handset.

The particular of the arrested persons are, Sharungbam Thoiba Meitei (57) s/o late Leishangthem Meitei of Andro Torongthel Mayai Leikai, Mutum Shanta (40) s/o M Tomba Singh of yairipok yambem Mathak Leikai and Yumkhaibam Chaothoi Singh s/o late Y. Panjom of Andro Maringthel.

Imphal east SP further mentioned that, Sharungbam Thoiba is one of the main runners amongst them, regarding for tomorrow RPF/PLA raising day celebration.

From the preliminary interrogation, the arrested persons disclosed that one s/s assistant division secy. Div-II Hijam Babu Singh (33) s/o late H. Sudol of Andro Kharam Leikai and s/s division secretary, Div-II Jayenta of Andro Uchon instructed them to prepare numbers of flags, festoon, stars etc for the celebration of the Raising Day on September 25th. And also mentioned that they were involved in collection of information about the movement of security forces and in transportation of arms, ammunitions and explosives as per the advice of one s/s Corporal Yumkhaibam Sharat Singh (33) s/o Y. Shajou of Andro Machengpat of RPF added the SP.

In the meantime, suspected to be proscribe militant outfits, attacked the state police by highly explosive bomb who were on duty at Kamu Panthoibi Laimamang pheida-hi which is located under the Andro police station this morning at around 10am. However, there were no reports of human casualty.
