Nurses recruitment controversy to HC

IMPHAL, Sep 26 : The controversy surrounding recruitment of 71 staff nurses in RIMS has reached Court.

The 71 staff nurses were recruited and the selected list was published on April 24 this year. They have been posted in different departments of RIMS and are already drawing monthly salaries.

An official source informed that one Thingbaijam Sarda, a candidate who faced the interview filed a complaint with the Gauhati High Court, Imphal Bench asserting that there were lapses and flaws in the selection process as well as select list apart from recruiting 42 more candidates than the number of candidates published for recruitment in the advertisement.

After hearing the complaint, Justice NK Singh issued a directive on June 7 asking the RIMS authority to provide details of the 71 selected nurses to the petitioner.

In line with the Court’s order, Thingbaijam Sarda filed an RTI application on June 25 seeking full details of the 71 staff nurse. But RIMS authority did not give the details.

Subsequently, the petitioner filed a contempt case at Gauhati High Court on August 16.

On August 17, RIMS Deputy Director (Administration) in-charge sent a written intimation to the petitioner asking her to collect the information she was seeking from RIMS personally.

Following the intimation, the petitioner in consultation with her counsel tried to obtain the details from the RIMS Deputy Director in-charge who is also the SPIO. But the sought after information has not been provided till date.

The complaint came up for hearing at the High Court today, said a source.
