Hand grenade lobbed at Manipur Secretariat

Imphal, Sep 12:A Chinese hand grenade suspected to be lobbed by armed militants group threat the Manipur secretariat south block which situated in the high security zone on Wednesday.

The Chinese hand grenade packed in a yellow polythene bag was found near a vehicle park inside the high security zone Manipur Secretariat complex this evening at around 3.15 pm.

Police verify the visitors.

According to source said employee of the secretariat noticed the bag lying behind one Scorpio car bearing number MN/01W/ 2809 which is parked inside the garage located in eastern side which is just opposite to the secretariat conference hall and later informed the police.

Later, a team of bomb expert of Manipur Police and Imphal west police team led Inspector General of Police (law and order) L. Kailun and Imphal West Superintendant of Police K. Jayenta Singh also rushed in to the spot inspected the areas and the grenade was picked up at around 3.50 pm.

Meanwhile panicked employees who were inside the secretariat office were later sent out after proper verification when the bomb was noticed inside the secretariat complex
