Bidyarani Ayekpam MCS topper 2011-2012 reveals her success story

Hard work never goes in vain. This adage was reinforced by the success story of 23-year old Bidyarani Ayekpam who emerged the topper at the Manipur Civil Services and Allied Posts Examinations conducted by Manipur Public Service Commission.

Bidyarani is also looking ahead to appearing at the mains examinations of the Civil Services Examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission on October 5.

In an exclusive interview with The People’s Chronicle, Bidyarani who married Akoijam Dumas of Wangkhei Ningthempukhri Mapal last January said she was born to Ayekpam Isho Singh and Tombi Devi of Heingang Awang Leikai. Her husband is employed with the Revised National TB Control Programme.

She studied at Maria Montessori School till her matriculation after which she shifted to Langjing Kendriya Vidyalaya. She appeared her Class X and Class XII examinations in 2004 and 2006 respectively, both under the Central Board of Secondary Education, and scored 86.6 per cent and 78.8 per cent. She then pursued a computer engineering degree at Birla Institute of Technology at Ranchi.

Bidyarani pointed out that this was her first attempt to crack the MPSC exams. She was selected for the post of assistant system engineer by Tata Consultancy Services during a campus interview but opted against the job as she wanted to qualify for the civil service examinations. After returning to Manipur in 2010, she joined Vision Coaching Centre and Pro-active Coaching. She crossed the first hurdle by clearing the MPSC prelims in 2011, after which success followed one after the other.

When asked whether she was confident of coming first at the examinations, Bidyarani stated that she had toiled hard leading to the examinations and was sure about clearing the mains as well. However, she had no expectations of heading the list. Expressing extreme happiness over the result, she dedicated her success to her teachers, study groups, family and husband.
