Histopathological test conducted on Manipuri student, CBI speeds up probe following protest

The police in the beginning had closed the file by claiming the death as accident. It was after the interference of the family members and friends that revealed that the death occurred due to the attack of some senior students within the college premises two days before his death, in which Loitam suffered serious head injuries.
The student bodies indulged in a nationwide protest against the death in order to alert both Karnataka and Manipur governments to hand over the case to the CBI for fastening the probe.
The students from northeast, who is studying in the same college where Loitam studied, claimed that such type of indiscrimination occurs every now and then. He also said that they are treated as outsiders in their own country which is indeed a matter of great concern.
According to the Manipuri students, placards and banners were taken in an intention to bring to the notice of the counselors of the institutions who failed to safeguard the life of students.
Richard Loitam a Manipuri student studying in a Bangalore college was beaten by his seniors two days before his death in a scuffle that took place due to word conversation between the boys regarding the IPL match.
