International Human Rights Day observed
Impahl, December 11: The Zeliangrong Students’ union Khoupum Area(ZSUKA) and United NGO ‘ Mission Manipur jointly organized International Human Rights Day observed at Daithaolong , Khoupum valley Nungba sub-divission,Tamenglong district ,Manipur on 10th Dec.2013 with the presence of 22 villages leadres of Khoupum Valley areas.
And demanded to Repeal AFSPA from the Northeast state, to Stop increase Violence Against Women and Children immediately. To stop harassment, torture, detain, other punishment of civilian by both state and non-state actors immediately. To compensate to those persons who are illegally tortured, harassed etc. by any actors as per law of the land. And to immediately expedite those pending cases related to Human Rights Violation as per law of the land- as India is the one of the largest of democracy.
During the observation Achui kamei chairman khoupum Area village Authority council, as chairperson and Boipu Koireng Co-orrdinator United NGOs Mission Manipur and Majabung Gangmei were also attended as resource person for the said international human rights day observation.
While delivering the speech of resource person Majabung Gangmei speaks on the topic of “Violation of human rights and arms forces special power act”. He explains in detail about AFSPA 1958 and its impact to the civil populace of the state. He is also stated about the list of Do’s and Don’ts Directed by Supreme Court of India- regarding Do’s action before Operation, Action during Operation, Action after Operation. And dealing with civil court.
Boipu Koireng delivered his speech on the Topic of “Prevailing Social issues and violation of human rights in the state, particularly Tamenglong District. On the very onset, he aware the gathering public on Human Rights such as Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Fundamental Rights , International Humanitarian Law as well as the rights of women and children etc. He explained about prevailing social issues such as excessive military occupancies, conflict between Security forces and non-state actor, factional armed conflict, increasing violence against women & children, trafficking, failure of Education, health, electricity, worse condition of road, propose construction of dams and exploration of dam, rampant corrupt practices in service delivery systems etc. He also appeal gathering leaders to frame long term vision for permanent justice, peace and development in the area and thoughts of constructive (positive) beliefs, behaviors and action.
