Armed Forces Flag Day Observed Throughout the Country

New Delhi, December 7: The Armed Forces Flag Day is being observed today throughout the country. Every year, this day is observed to remember the sacrifices made by our gallant servicemen in defending the integrity of our borders and salute the martyrs, honour the brave, and express solidarity and support towards welfare of widows, children, disabled and sick ex-servicemen.

On the occasion, the Kendriya Sainik Board officials pinned Armed Forces Flag Day (AFFD) Lapels on Dignitaries and collected donations from the public which goes into the AFFD corpus.

Similar functions were held throughout the country with the assistance of school students, NCC cadets and government officials.

The mobilized fund is utilized for giving grants to various ESM welfare institutions like Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre, Cheshire Homes, St. Dunstan’s After Care Organisation for Blind, Construction of War Memorial Hostels and providing financial assistance such as Penury/marriage/medical/education Grants and relief to ex-servicemen and their dependents besides host of other welfare measures.
