Chavang Kut celebrated at Saikul
Imphal, October 29: Block level Chavang Kut 2013 was celebrated at Saikul ground with an extravagances by holding a Chavang Lanu which mean Miss Kut beauty pageant on Tuesday.
Saikul is the place where the first ever Chavang Kut started to celebrated since 1961 and till today Saikul never missed out the celebration even a state level is held at 1st MR parade ground.
Gracing the Kut celebration as chief guest, Ginsuanhao Zou, MLA Singhat A/C said that one or the other day Chin, Kuki, Mizo and Zomi will be together and jointly celebrated on common festival as all are brother and sister.
Though we all might be differentiate by different tribes names we all are a son and daughter of one God we can never be apart.
Saikul is a land blessed by God with beautiful landscape until and unless the people of the area is united nothing can stop from developing into one of the most developed sub division in the state added the chief guest.
State level Chavang Kut is celebrated every year on November 1 but some people has ask and demands to the State level Kut committee to changes it to December 1but this is not possible as State govt. has already declared November 1 as state holiday and since Kut has been stated to celebrate in our state it has been on November 1 only said the MLA.
Addressing his guest of honour speech the local MLA Yamthong Haokip said that it is very unfortunate that more than 100 villages under Saikul block has been transfer under the valley district police boundary since 2011.
If the police boundary is not corrected at the earliest all the villages of Saikul sub division which are under valley district police boundary will converted to valley district.
Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai, students bodies other civil societies are protesting against the inclusion of Saikul villages under the police boundary of valley district need to be supported by the general public otherwise one day Saikul will not have assembly constituency added the local MLA.
The KUT PA of the today celebration was Thangkhosei Haokip, President Kuki Inpi Manipur who declared the Kut.
Apart from the extravagances beauty pageant well known artist of Kuki present their songs and different cultural troops including Nepali and Naga perform their cultural dances.
