Steel Minister Reviews the Half Yearly Performance of MECON
The Minister said that MECON should concentrate more on procuring projects in the area of Slurry pipeline, Pelletisation and Beneficiation plants. He also advised the Company to increase its turnover, which is less than the MoU target for the period. He exhorted the MECON collective to achieve greater heights of performance and expressed content at the diversification efforts made by the company.
During the 1st half of the current Financial Year 2012-13, MECON has procured jobs worth Rs. 411.29 crores against an MOU target of Rs. 535 crores for the financial year. The company’s turnover during the period has been Rs. 154.27 crores and the Net Worth as on 30.09.2012 has been Rs. 325.67 crores.
MECON is an engineering and consultancy services company that caters to steel producers both in public and private sector. In addition to this, MECON also provides project management services for 2.5 Mt/yr integrated steel plant of ISP, Burnpur and 3.0 Mt/yr integrated steel plant of NMDC.
The company has made inroads in power, oil & gas and infrastructure sectors. Its diversification efforts have paid rich dividends and MECON has undertaken turnkey project execution apart from emerging as a top engineering consultancy company.
During the 1st half of 2012-13, MECON has entered into contract agreement, and rendered Project Management & Construction Management Services for many important project across the country. MECON has also entered into MoUs with reputed companies during the first half of the financial year for various projects.
