One more Bangladheshi national arrested, 51 detained

Imphal, Aug 31: One more Bangladeshi were arrested by the Manipur Police in the continuation drive against illegal migrants in the state where 51 non-local were detain for further verification said police official on Friday.

Today under the supervision of state Home department, Imphal West district police and Imphal city police conducted an operation in the heart of Imphal city areas and made the arrest of those six illegal foreign migrant.

The operation started in the wee hours today, where hundreds of non local/migrants were paraded at Wahengbam leikai, North AOC, Nagamapal Kangjabi leirak, Khoyathong, Sagolband Salam leikai, and Keishampat.

Police official said the six arrested Bangladeshi will be dealt under Foreigner’s Act after further verifications. And the 51 migrants are detained due to failure to produces their identification papers, the verification will continue further on them to find out whether they are Indian or foreign illegal migrant.

Mention may be made here that a drive operation to check foreign illegal migrants was took up by the government since yesterday where 43 foreign illegal migrants were arrested by the police with another 127 migrants from different parts of the country.
