Huge pothole makes an oil tanker met with an accident
KANGPOKPI (KANGGUI), Dec.4: An oil tanker met with an accident and fell down into the river side due to a huge pothole in the middle of the road along National Highway 2 between Changoubung and Kanggui at around 8:30 am this morning.
The ill-feted oil tanker bearing Regd.No. MN01-7900 was heading toward Imphal when it met with the incident, according to police source.
The driver and handyman of the tanker who sustained minor injuries were given medical aid at CHC, Kanggui with the help of Kanggui police.
The oil tanker while trying to avoid the huge pothole in the middle of the road fell down into the river side, according to an eyewitness.
Mention may be made that at this particular place on October 25 an Alto Maruti Suzuki Car met the same accident with the same reason causing serious injuries to an employee of DRDA, Senapati.
In the meantime, even while the National Highway 2 becomes a threat to many innocent lives the state Govt. as well as the concern authority and the civil bodies of the district remained a mute spectators.
Interestingly, in today's incident the local instead of lending a helping hand to the vehicle operators took advantage of the situation and were busy collecting the leakade fuel from the ill-feted tanker.
A part from the fuel collectors another party, some vehicle owners, are busy waiting for the fuel collectors to get the petrol in low price.
On learning the unwanted incident Kanggui Police led by its OC, L.Vaiphei turn both the party away from the spot.
It will wise from the part of the state Govt.and the concern authority to take notice of the dilapidated condition of the National Highway 2 since such unfortunate incident is likely to occur frequently along the highway due to the bad condition of the road.
