Grenade attack at RIMS, IED found near school
IMPHAL, July 17: A powerful hand grenade hurled by unidentified miscreants exploded on Tuesday inside the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Lamphelpat campus in the evening.
According to report, the bomb hurled by unidentified persons fell at a security barrack situated near the Officer’s Colony inside the RIMS campus. However, there was no report of any casualty in the attack.
A case has been registered at the Lamphel Police Station in connection with the incident, it added.
Meanwhile, a Chinese hand grenade was found at Langol View Clinic closed to the RIMS campus, Lamphelpat this morning around 8.30am.
Later, a team of bomb disposal squad of Lamphel Police retrieved the bomb.
In another incident, a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found just near the back side of Herbert School located at Changangei under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West District at around 10.15 today morning.
Later, a bomb expert team of Lamphel Police Station diffused and retrieved the bomb.
It is said that the IED was planted inside a Tin fish can.
