Cop nabs extortionists
LAMKA, July 18: A team of Churachandpur Police under the supervision of SDPO David Biaklian today apprehended two persons both aged about 20 years at Tuibuang while they were reportedly in the process of extorting money from the DRDA office which is located next to the office of the DC Ccpur.
Sources said the duo were allegedly trying to deliver a demand letter of Rs.70, 000 to Chongpui, SDC who is attached to DRDA office around 2 pm on Wednesday and were arrested by the police team at 3:30 pm later.
The demand was made in the name of Change Revolutionary Army (CLA) and the police are yet to ascertain who actually are behind the demand as the organization's name in use is not familiar and could be a fake one, it added.
