Most of the roads which being taken up by the BRTF are targeted to complete in 2014: DGBR

IMPHAL, Nov 9: Appreciating about the works being carried out by the project Sewak in Manipur, Nagaland and Myanmar, expressed his satisfaction as the all works being progressing as envisaged and for the supports of the general public of the concerned areas said Lt General S Ravi Shankar, PVSM, VSM, the Director General Border Roads during his visited to the HQ of 25 BRTF at Imphal on his way to Aizawl on Friday.
In today interaction with state media persons he informed that the road Yaingangpokpi to Jessami which is 170.88 long Km. has been planned to be double lane by the BRO and the works on the first phase between Ukhrul to Yaingnangpokpi (21) km has already been commenced and planned for completion in three years.
And further mentioned that the 25 BRTF is also constructing the 10KM long fence along Indo-Myanmar Border of which 40 percent works has also been already completed. And also informed, that rehabilitation work between 125 to 185 Km. on Churachandpur -Tipaimuk road is under progress.
He also said that the work on Singhat-Sinzawl-Tuivai river road will start very soon shortly as it has been included in the execution stage after persistent efforts by the BRO.
Talking about Indo Myanmar Friendship road informed that the BRO has already completed the 160 KM, Tamu-Kyigone-Kelewa road of which the 132 KM stretch of Tamu-Kyigone- Kalemyo has been already been handed over to Myanmar PWD and the resurfacing work on balance 26 KM is under progress and is planned to be completed during this financial year.
During the interaction he also informed that important works being carried out by BRO in Nagaland of while the strengthening of 30 KM on NH-29 is under progress. The works on Jotsoma Bye pass is under progress of which 40 percent work has already been completed. And also mentioned that bridge located at Makru and Barrak along the NH 37 will also start construction and targeted to complete in 2014 he added.
The double lane of Khima-Jessami road has also approved by the ministry and the estimate of first 17 km is under preparation, also further mention that 200 KM road will be resurfaced in current financial year in both the states of Nagaland and Manipur.
The DGBR was received at the Imphal Airport by Brig Arun Joshi, Chief Engineer (project) Sewak. During his briefing stopover at Imphal the DGBR reviewed the works, met all ranks of 25 BRTF.
