Hasina Kharbhih begs CNN-IBN Inaugural India Positive Award


Shillong, October 29: Hasina Kharbhih, the Chair of Board of Impulse NGO Network Shillong, recently received the CNN-IBN Inaugural India Positive Award.This path breaking editorial initiative started by CNN-IBN a year ago is a sincere effort to recognize those everyday Indians who are committed towards bringing about a positive change in our society.

India Positive Awards celebrates the basic goodness in every Indian and delves into India’s hidden resource that cradles the wounded, makes peace among communities and improves lives of others in our society. It seeks to highlight the endeavours that have ushered in change. The primary objective of this event is to honour the people who have gone out their way to help others.

These awards adhere to a stringent process of selection which has the IBN Editorial Board at its core which nominates, deliberates and after many levels of scrutiny and verifications, finalize the winners keeping in mind their sterling contribution to the nation.
The other winners are Mustaqh Ahmed and Team, JyotiNiwas Kumar Sinha, Biju Varghese, Shramik Sanitation Systems, Rajesh Kotwal, Suresh NandNehar, Dr. LataVenkataram and Dr.PrabhuRamakrishnan, AakashSinha, Beyond Smiles Foundation, MonaharAich, Col.DPKPillay, Vir Menon and Sonali Mukherjee all of whom have made a significant impact on society.

Hasina was bestowed with this award for lobbying for Policy Change and rehabilitating children who were made to work in the coal mines in Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya.

Hasina and her team at Impulse NGO NETWORK are fighting the mafia to save millions of children from the clutches of the coal mafia in Jaintia Hills. These children are usually trafficked from Nepal, Assam and Bangladesh to work as bonded labourers in the coal mines of Jaintia Hills. These children are forced to work under appalling conditions and are vulnerable to water borne diseases as the caves are flooded with water. Hasina and her team have done ground breaking work to alleviate the plight of these children.

Chief Justice Markandey Katju along with guest of honours Anil Kumble and Col.RajyaVardhan Rathore facilitated the winners at the grand finale,New Delhi.
