UK Sangma inaugurates two deco turf tennis courts


Imphal, September16: North Eastern Council's Secretary UK Sangma inaugurated two deco turf tennis courts of Imphal District Tennis Association here on Saturday.

The state-of-the-art tennis association's complex at Lamphetpat Imphal is being constructed the NEC's funding. It has six pruposed tennis courts and adequate training area. Under the funding sanctioned by NEC, the two deco turf courts was completed months back. Each of the turf costs around Rs. 40 lakh.

NEC had estimated the entire costs of the project as Rs. 3.22 crore to install four synthetic courts and two clay courts in the IDTA's complex. The foundation stone of the project  under the NEC funding had laid down in April 2011.

During his three days long visit in the state, Mr. Sangma inaugurated the courts formally along with State Chief Secretary DS Poonia. The completed courts were officially  handed over to the association to make convenient for the development of the game in the state.

Addressing in the inaugural function, Uk Sangma said, "The complex will benifit the budding teniss talents of the state. The surrounding of the complex is much appropriate to the game."
