Huge amount of contraband drugs siezed
Imphal, Sep 23: A combined team of the Special Intelligence Unit (SIU), and district police Narcotic Cell along with 43 Assam Rifles siezed a large quantity of contraband drugs at least 13 boxes containing banned CU-KUF Pseudoephedrine tablets at Kanglatongbi along the National Highway 2 (former 39) this afternoon around 2 PM said official source.
Source said that the contraband drugs which was packed in 13 cartoon boxes were concealed under a truck that carry a freight of cement. The Truck was reportedly plying from Meghalaya via Guwahati and reached Imphal this afternoon.
The official said that the goods were to unload at churachandpur southern Iron link.
The recovered contraband drugs were display before the media. And inform that a case has been registered under ND & PS Act. Sekmai Police has take over the case for further investigation as it falls under their jurisdiction of them.
The truck owner identified as Md. Tayeb Ali along with the driver Md Farog has been arrested by the police added the official.
