At least 9 militants arrested in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 23 : At least nine UG cadres including 4 women of various militants group of state were reported arrested by the state police department today.

A statement released by the Imphal west district Superintendent Police, stated that during the last 48 hrs Imphal west District police commandos, in extensive search operation in deferent areas of the Imphal west areas have arrested 9 (nine cadres of UGS belonging to PREPAK (PRO), PREPAK, UPPK and KCP (CORCOM) and recovered 11 (eleven) numbers of demands letter and 5 (five) numbers of mobiles handsets from their possession.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested cadres are involved in extortion of money from public and recruitment of new cadres for the organization. Separate cases have been registered at Singjamei police station, Imphal city police station and Imphal police station for further investigation.

The nine UGs arrested person were identified as Jilpao Baite 35 son of (L) Thonglim of B. Phaiham of Churachandpur district, (UPPK), Wangkhem Premananda alias Momocha (38) son of Doren of Keishamthong Moirangningthou Leirak (UPPK), Waikhom Premkumar (51) of Singjamei Bheigabati leikai (PREPAK(PRO), Maibam Chandrajit (40) of Singjamei Wangma Kongba Raod (PREPAK (PRO), Gurmayum Ibomcha Sharma (51) of Konjeng leikai (KCP-CORCOM),Arubam Toto alias Shanti devi (40) daughter of late Mani of Nungsum village (PREPAK –PRO), Khundrakpam Rita (40) daughter of Kh Laimu of Heirangoithong Maibam leikai (PREPAK-PRO), Takhellambam Chaoba alias Kumari (35) daughter of T. Ibohal of Thongju Waikhom khongnang (PREPAK-PRO), and Mongjam (N) Keisham (O) Sylvia devi wife of Keisham Ibohambi of Uripok Bachaspati leikai (PREPAK) said the release of police.
