Businessmen shot dead in day light
Guwahati, Sep 15 (agencies): A businessman was shot dead by three motorcycle borne miscreants in broad daylight in Nalbari town in Assam on Friday. The miscreants reportedly looted rupees 20 lakhs from the businessman.
Police said that the businessman identified as Ashish Maskara was on his way to State Bank of India’s Nalbari town branch in a vehicle. He was shot at inside the vehicle (AS-01S-4679) near the bank which is situated at Hari Mandir Chowk in Nalbari town.
Maskara was rushed to the Nalbari Civil Hospital in a serious condition. He succumbed to his injury after a few minutes in a hospital, said the hospital authorities.
Meanwhile, two miscreants who were involved in the killing were nabbed at Paikarkuchi area on the National Highway-31 when they were trying to escape.
Rupees 7 lakh 53 thousand was also recovered from their procession. The two miscreants have been identified as Chandan Kalita and Kawaljit Singh said the police source.
Security forces cordoned off the area and investigation is still going on.
