Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Meets Union Minister of Civil Aviation

New Delhi, September 6: The Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh NabamTuki met Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ajit Singh in New Delhi on Wednesday.  The two leaders discussed the status of development of airports at Itanagar, Along, Daparizo, Pasighat, Tezu and Ziroin  Arunachal Pradesh.

Ajit Singh informed Tukithat the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has prepared a draft Master Plan for development of the Airport at Holongi in Itanagar following the acceptance of the site by the State Government for construction of the Greenfield Airportin view of its technical suitability and operational safety.  It was noted that the terrain at new Holongi site permits operations on runway from both directions as compared to Banderdewa site which permits unidirectional operation. In this regard, AAI has forwarded requirement for acquisition of 320 hectare of landto the State Government.

Regarding the development of a civil enclave at aerodrome in Along, the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister was informed that the Airports Authority of India had sent a report in July to the State Government for removal/curtailment of obstacles around the Aerodrome for safe flight operations.  The Authority has also submitted the Master Plan to the State Government and Indian Air Force (IAF) as the IAF has been mandated the development of the aerodrome.  It was brought to the notice of the Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister that the State Government has to act urgently on land requirement of seven acres projected by AAI for development of civil enclave.

Mr. Singh further informed that the AAI has finalized the Master Plan forDaparizo Airfield.  The Airfield has to be developed for ATR-42 (50 seater) type of aircraft operation. An additional land of 34.2 acres as per the Master Plan has been requested from the State Government in December 2010. Exercise for identification of obstacles around the airfield to be removed/ curtailed by the State Government has also been conducted and the report has been sent to the State Government in July last year.In this case also, the State Government has to respond to the requirement of land.

 In case of Pasighat Aerodrome which belongs to AAI and has to be handed over to IAF for development for both civil flights and defence use, Ajit Singh said that a formal lease agreement is yet to be signed.

 He said that quantum of available land to be shared between IAF & AAI is in dialogue, needing reconciliation of extent of land available. The revised Master Plan has been sent to IAF for finalization of lease agreement.

 The status of work at Tezu Aerodrome was also shared in the meeting. It was informed that the work for upgradation and development ATR-72 type of operation is in progress and AAI has taken up works related to runway extension, strengthening of existing runway and recently awarded the work for new terminal building.

 At Ziro also the development has been mandated to IAF. AAI will develop a civil enclave. The State Government has to provide ten acres of land for the purpose.
