7 Dead and 30 Road users Injured in a Bus-Train Collision in Bihar
New Delhi, September 26: Seven students were killed and 30 were injured when the bus in which they were travelling hit the train number 13019 (Howrah-Kathgodam Express) which was passing through a manned gate between Pachrukhi – Siwan section in Bihar at around 3.00 p.m. today.
The Minister of Railways, Dr. C. P. Joshi has expressed his profound grief over the loss of innocent lives and termed it as most unfortunate and tragic. He immediately announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 5/- lakh to the next kin of the dead, Rs. 1/- lakh each to grievously injured passengers and Rs. 25,000 to those who sustained simple injuries. The Minister of State for Railways, Shri K. H. Muniyappa and Member Traffic, Shri K. K. Srivastava, and senior officials from North-Eastern Railway have immediately rushed to the accident site.
The Railway Minister has given instructions to Railway officials for the speedy relief and rescue operation and for undertaking effective medical treatment to the injured passengers. Railways will bear all the cost of medical treatment of the injured.
