Women Commission conducts spot inquiry
IMPHAL, August 28 : A five-member team of Manipur State Commission for Women, MSCW led by its Chairperson, Dr L Ibetombi Devi conducted a spot inquiry and examined the death of Smt Niangtheanngai yesterday 27 August, afternoon around 1:30 pm at the Morgue located inside the Regional Institute of Medical Science, RIMS campus.
In a statement issued by their member secretary, S Meghachandra stated that the Commission has registered a case against the husband and the in-laws following a complaint made by the mother of the deceased, late Niangtheanngai.
During the enquiry, the MSCW team interacted all concerned and related individual including Dr Ibochouba Singh, Head of the forensic department. The deceased body was brought on 26 August and later post mortem was conducted two days later on 28 August, the statement added.
The MSWC team members included Ms June Rose, Mazida Khan, H Piteshori Devi over and above the chairperson Dr L Ibetombi and member secretary, S Meghachandra Sharma.
