ANSAM condemns killing, seeks complaince

IMPHAL, August 27: The All Naga Students' Association, Manipur and its constituent units condemned the "cold blooded" murder of the State secretary of Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur, ZSUM, Mr Chunthuigai Kamei earlier on 17 August at Nungkao village by NSCN-K faction.

In a statement issued to the press, ANSAM stated it will honour, uphold and safeguard the interest of the general public and the students community in particular and will oppose all forms of violence, bloodshed and killings of any unarmed civilians including public and students leaders.

Warning that any individual or organisation which goes against the wishes of the people will be treated seriously, the students' body further appealed the concerned party to comply to public interest by restoring people's co-operation and confidence by assuring one and all that such killing will ever be repeated in future.

At the funeral services held earlier on 18 August at Longmai, ANSAM condemned the killing and reminded the 5 (five) points declaration made by Zeliangrong civil societies and further reasserted the concerned party to comply to the 7 (seven) points of terms and condition laid later again on 21 August which remained with either any response or justification till date, the statement charged.

The statement also expressed their sense of remorse over the nature in which a students' leader has being killed without giving any prior warning or reason and termed unacceptable, the way the killing has been executed and ended up by merely giving a justification in "some dailies".
