PM condoles the passing away of Socialist leader Mrinal Gore

New Delhi, July 17: The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, has expressed deep grief over the passing away of the socialist crusader and former Member of Lok Sabha, Shrimati Mrinal Gore.

Prime Minister’s condolence message said, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of Shrimati Mrinal Gore who has been a zealous democrat, tireless worker for civic infrastructure and an inspiration to many generations of social activists. Her social reform oriented agenda and efforts showed the way for the independent Indian woman of today. Shrimati Gore's contribution to the Lok Sabha proceedings will be long remembered for the progressive vision she brought into several debates. The nation will remain indebted to her work for the poor, and the promotion of civil rights, women's rights and communal harmony.

"I wish to send my deepest condolences to the family of Shrimati Mrinal Gore and her many followers and comrades", he added.
