Judo Federation of India launches peace programme in Manipur
\Imphal, July 14: The Judo Federation of India, in coordination with the International Judo Federation (IJF), has taken a step forward to promote peace and equality in Imphal, Manipur.
The three-year project, which focuses mainly on the Manipuri womenfolk, aims at reconciling various groups indulging in violence, providing education to them, make them realize the importance of equality of gender along with working in coordination with the police.
The knowledge and experience gained from the programme will be transmitted to other states of the country. The project is vision of Judo for Peace commission which is headed by IJF's Police and Army Commission's Johannes Daxbacher. Daxbacher interacted with three partners—Manipur Judo Association, the JFI and Minister of Work and Transportation along with the Director General of Police.
Mukesh Kumar, secretary general of JFI, will monitor the projects established in Manipur and see how it works to the advantage of the people.
