African who raped Manipuri girl arrested
NAVI MUMBAI: The 31-year-old African, accused of raping a 25-year-old nursing student, has been arrested by the Bengaluru police, and will soon be bro-ught to Navi Mumbai so that the victim can identify him.
The victim, currently admitted to Dr D Y Patil Hospital in Nerul to undergo a surgery to restructure her private parts, hails from Manipur. She and her relative had visited the house of the accused, Prince John alias Johnson, on May 13 in Bengaluru, as the accused was the the latter's boyfriend.
On May 26, the Navi Mumbai police lodged an FIR after former vice-chairman of Maharashtra Minorities Commission Abraham Mathai intimated them about the crime.
Meanwhile, the Nerul police have also transferred the rape case from Navi Mumbai to Bangaluru police as the crime had taken place there.
