Third Meeting of GoM on Telangana Held

New Delhi, November 7: The third meeting of the Group of Ministers (GoM) to consider the issues regarding the bifurcation of the State of Andhra Pradesh and formation of the new State of Telangana held here today discussed the revised status notes sent by the Ministries and the Departments of the Government of India . The GoM decided to meet the Secretaries of the Ministries / Departments of the Government of India on 11th of this month to seek clarifications on some of the issues.

The GoM appreciated the overwhelming response of the people. About 18000 suggestions were received regarding the issues covered under the Terms of Reference of the GoM through e-mail or post from the public and other stakeholders of Andhra Pradesh.

The GoM also decided to meet the representatives of the recognized political parties of Andhra Pradesh on the 12th and 13th of this month. It decided to meet again on November 18 to hear the views of the Union Ministers who hail from the State of Andhra Pradesh.

Today’s meeting was held under the chairmanship of Shri Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Home Minister and was attended by Shri P. Chidambaram, Union Finance Minister, Shri M. Veerappa Moily, Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Jairam Ramesh, Union Minister of Rural Development and Shri V. Narayanasamy, Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel and PMO.
