Chief Minister O. Ibobi singh inaugurated the 1st North East NSS Festival, 2013 at Imphal
Imphal, November 13 : Chief Minister okram Ibobi Singh inaugurated the 1st North East National Service Scheme (NSS) Festival, 2013 this morning at the Indoor Hall of Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal.
The Festival is being organised by the Dept. of YAS, Govt.of Manipur under the Dept. of Youth Affairs, Govt. of India and around 350 NSS volunteers from 8 NE states including Sikkim are taking part in the festival. Apart from academic and cultural sessions, a field visit to Moirang are beingorganised during the 5-Day long festival.
The function was presided over by M. Prithviraj Singh, Parliamentary Secretary YAS and Dr. R.K. Nimai Singh,Commissioner(YAS, Art & Culture) was the Guest of Honour. The Head of NSS Regional Centre, Guwahati Sunil Basumatary in his keynote address stated that the govt. of India has sanctioned toorganise 4 NSS Festivals in the NE Region during the current financial year and this is the first of its kind, the other 3 festivals are to be organised in Shillong, Aizawl and Agartala during January to February next year he added.
