Union Home Minister Felicitates Indian Police Contingent
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shinde congratulated the Indian Police team on its performance and exhorted them to strive higher for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games during 2014. He said, Indian Sportspersons have won a large number of medals at Commonwealth, Games held at Delhi and Asian Games held at Guangzhou, China. The Union Home Minister was particularly appreciative of the brilliant performance of the Indian swimmers and athletes each of whom was able to win multiple medals in the event they participated. He particularly praised SI Mandar Anand Diwase of BSF who won 6 gold medals and handed over a cheque of Rs. 2.1 lakhs to him. Constable M.Tulasi Chaitanya from Andhra Pradesh Police who won 3 gold medals and 3 silver medals in different swimming events was handed over a cheque of Rs.1.95 lakhs by the Union Home Minister.
Union Home Minister handed over cheques amounting to Rs. 32.80 lakhs in all to the 39 member Police Contingent. The function was also attended by Director Intelligence Bureau and Directors General of Police belonging to different Central Armed Police Forces.
