One killed in bomb blast in Manipur

Imphal, Sep 3: An Improvise Explosive Device (IED) exploded Monday morning in a remote village of Thoubal district killed 23 year old youth in the spot said a police source.
The 23 year old youth identified as one Sanabam Tonjon singh @ Mani son of late Gopen residence of Nonpok Keithelmanbi under Yairipok police station died when suspected IED exploded in the courtyard of his house.
The police as well the villager said that the IED explode while he was pulling out some fire wood.
The police suspect that the IED may be left by the militants who frequently threaten villagers in connection with monetary demands.
But it is not ascertain how IED was planted there and by whom said the police official.
Decrying the dead of the 20 year old youth, the locality stage a sit in protest and form Joint Action Committee (JAC) and demand for more security personnel for the areas and to carry out house to house cordon search operation if any bomb is left in other houses.
In the meantime a Chinese hand grenade was hurled at the residence of one Koiram Tondon 45 son of late Tombimacha of Yairipok Top Chingtha, under Yairipok police station, Thoubal district.
Fortunately the bomb fail to explode said the police who recover it from the gate of Tondon, who is contesting in the upcoming Panchayat election.
