NECEER, Imphal wins eNGO Challenge South Asia Award 2013
New Delhi, December 6: North East Centre for Environmental Education and Research (NECEER), a non profit organisation based at Imphal working for the environmental education and research was awarded Winner (Category Sustainable Development) in the "eNGO Challenge South Asia Award 2013" held at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi on Thursday.
The award was conferred to recognize the organisation for its effort for the conservation of environment and biodiversity using education, research and digital tools as means. NECEEER was the only organisation from Northeast receiving the award in any of the category.
The organisations's most remarkable work is decade long mass awareness programme on Loktak Lake, a Ramsar site in Manipur. NECEER organises several environment education programme besides scientific research on biodiversity and publishes periodicals to promote research on environment and biodiversity. While receiving the award, Khuraijam Jibankumar, Founder of NECEER thank the volunteers, supporters, well wishers and partners for their encouragement and support. eNGO Challenge South Asia is organised by Digital Employment Foundation (DEF) and .NGO to recognise Best NGO Practices using ICTs in different sectors.
