Joint spot verification on Indo-Myanmar border within Manipur to be undergone

NEW DELHI, December 5: All Political Delegation led by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Manipur, Shri Okram Ibobi Singh, today met the Union Home Minister, Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde at 1 PM in North Block here to discuss the issues relating to Indo-Myanmar border fencing falling within the State of Manipur. The meeting was attended by Senior Officials of the Home Ministry, Surveyer General of India, Border Roads Organisation and Assam Rifles.
After detailed discussions on the issues involved, it was resolved that a joint delegation of all concerned officials of Government of India alongwith all political parties of Manipur including the State Government will conduct a spot verification of the fencing work and the disputed, boundary pillars on 7th & 8th December, 2013. Union Home Minister also instructed the Border Road Organisation to immediately suspend the fencing work going on in Manipur, till the issues raised in the meeting are settled.
