BJP ups poll ante with Run for Unity

IMPHAL, December 15: The Bharatiya Janata Party, Manipur Mandal also held the ‘Run for Unity’ in the state this morning.

The nationwide ‘Run for Unity’ was flagged off by Narendra Modi in connection with the construction of the "Statue of Unity" of Sardar Bhalabhai Patel, the world's largest statue at Narmada Sarovar Dam, Gujarat was also flagged organized by the BJP Manipur Mandal at 8 am.

The Run for Unity was flagged off from Kwakeithel Thounaojam Leikai Community Hall, Imphal and concluded at the Manipur BJP office at Nityaipat Chuthek in Imphal. More than 2000 runners participated in the run.

Addressing a crowd at the party state office, Manipur Pradesh president, Thounaojam Chaoba said even though India got freedom in 1947, the people are yet to get proper drinking water, electricity and other essential commodities.

He said BJP under the leadership of Narendra Modi is planning to establish a good governance at the centre by winning the necessary number of MPs in the coming Parliament election. The BJP is also hoping to win both seats from the state during the election.  He further appeal that Manipur should join the wind of change in India under the Narendra Modi wave.

He pointed out that there is no Congress in the major states of India such as Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Bihar, UP, West Bengal etc.

Addressing the party supporters, RK Ranjan Singh said BJP will provide under the leadership of Narendra Modi people oriented and transparent governance.

Prof Gangmumei Kamei said that Sardar Bhalabhai Patel is the symbol of a united and strong India and change which is also the slogan of the party’s Prime Minister candidate Narendra Modi.

He cited that the purpose of politics is to give good governance to the citizens of the country which means development and not corruption. During visits to the interior parts of the state including the hill districts, it was observed that there is no visible development, even in the district headquarters, Prof Gangmumei mentioned and further continued to request the people to elect BJP candidates to usher in an era of change.

President of state Minority Morcha, Najir Husain said that he joined BJP in 2006 and has visited 22 states for official matters of the party and found that BJP is more democratic and secular than the other so called secular parties.
