IMPHAL, November 29: A massive torch rally (meira rally) was taken out across the state this evening in protest against the “faulty” border fencing along the Indo-Myanmar border.

The rallies were spearheaded by the Ireibaki Thoudangda Ngamkhei Kanba Nupi Lup.

In response to the call of the Ireibaki Thoudangda Ngamkhei Kanba Nupi Lup, women folk (meira paibis) from different localities came out on into the streets bearing torch and chanted slogans like “Remove faulty border fencing immediately”, “Anti people Government should resign” and “Long live Manipur”.

Similar rallies were taken out at Lamsang, Wabagai, Heingang, Khurai Leirikyengbam Leikai, Thambalkhong, Lamlong, Kakwa, Chingamakha, Mantripukhri, Khabam etc.

The rally is being organised in the wake of clamour from different angles including student’s bodies, NGOs and political parties to resolve the border dispute amicably.

Moreover, an all political party delegation will leave Imphal for Delhi, to apprise central leaders on the matter.
