Sibal Assumes Additional Charge of the Ministry of Law & Justice
New Delhi, May 13: Union Cabinet Minister, Kapil Sibal, assumed the additional charge of the Ministry of Law & Justice here on Monday.
After taking over the charge, he said that the Rule of Law is the foundation of civil society and the processes of law must be quick and non-discriminatory. Addressing the Media, the new Law & Justice Minister said that we need to strengthen confidence of the people in our judicial system.
He emphasized the need for structural judicial reforms and said that these can be brought about by institutional dialogue and understanding.
Sibal also dwelt upon the importance of embracing modern technology at every level of the judicial system, from investigation to decision making, and said that this is the only way change can be brought about expeditiously.
Later, Shri Kapil Sibal met the Secretaries and other senior officers of the Ministry of Law & Justice who gave him the basic brief about the functioning of the Ministry and the issues if immediate concern.
