Chandel leaders sees red over the negative attitude of SP Chandel, demands transfer

Imphal, May, 13: Public tension went high in Chandel today following the ugly incidence between the Superintendent of Police (SP) Chandel and the leaders of Chandel District Naga-Kuki Joint Committee (CDNKJC) who have gone to attend the meeting on the invitation of SP Chandel, E. Priyokumar, I.P.S.
The reaction of enraged leaders lead to a meeting  which was jointly attended by the Chandel Naga People’s  Organization, Kuki People’s Forum Chandel District, Naga Chiefs Association Chandel, Kuki  Chiefs’ Association Chandel,  Naga Women Union Chandel, Naga Students’ Union Chandel, Kuki Students’ Organization Chandel at the residential office of Wangshol Kanral Social worker.

Wangshol Kanral Anal, Social Worker, and the Convener of the (CDNKJC) while addressing the media after the meeting informed that All important leaders of the district including Tribe Presidents, CNPO, Kuki People’s Forum Chandel,, Naga Women Union Chandel,  Kuki Chiefs’ Association Chandel, Naga Chiefs’ Association Chandel, Naga Students’ Union Chandel and Kuki Students’ Organization, on the invitation of the SP Chandel. E. Priyokumar went to the DC complex for holding a meeting  with the District administration including ADGP and the Deputy Commissioner Chandel to find amicable solution in regard to the shifting of surrendered KYKL (MDF), Cadres from 20 Assam Rifles Chandel.

According to him the SP Chandel, insulted the leaders present before the talk began and show disrespect.  “Unhappy over the misbehavior all the leaders had walked out of the meeting hall”, he said.

He informed that the meeting has resolved to demand immediate transfer of the SP Chandel, E Priyo Kumar, IPS within 2 days and further stated that if the Govt. fails to shift the Surrendered KYKL (MDF) Cadres from Chandel within 2 days, CDNKJC a new formed committee which is endorsed by 43 leaders including the Nagas and Kukis in Chandel District will launch strong agitation from May 16 onward.

Haokhothong Baite, EX-MDC Member and Chief while addressing the media accused SP Chandel of disrespecting the Chandel Public leaders. He went on to allege that the SP even after calling the meeting by himself he has no sense of responsibility to have sitting arrangements.

J. Paite, President, Kuki People’s Forum while speaking to the media informed that under the newly set up organization i.e., Chandel District Naga-Kuki Joint Committee (CDNKJC) Nagas and Kukis in Chandel district will work together on common issues, land and others.

On the other hand when a team of media approached the SP Chandel, E Priyokumar at his office for verification of the allegation framed against him, the Police Officer denied and refused to talk to the media team. The Police officer who was inside his office at the time when the media team were outside his office told his personal security guard on duty that he will not meet the press.
