Surajkund mela formally declared open by Prez
Faridabad, February, 2013: The 27th Surajkund crafts mela in Faridabad district of Haryana was formally declared open by the President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday, this time Karnataka is the theme state of the fair.
Addressing the audience after inaugurating the fair, the President said Indian states have progressed in showcasing culture, which is a part of ancient India’s way of life.
He said Indian handicraft industries have added in foreign exchange of the country.
Mukherjee, said that he is happy to learn that Haryana government has pioneered to showcase its handicrafts in this fair, which was followed by other states.
As the fair is going international, he hoped that in the years to come the fair encourage artisans from all over the world and media would highlight their talents.
