Grenades recovered from 2 schools

IMPHAL, January 11: Unidentified persons left a Chinese made hand grenade each at the school premises of the Human Resource Development Academy (HRD Academy) and Comet School late last night.

A police bomb squad has picked up the two bombs this morning around 7am and disposed the two at Lamphelpat garbage dumping ground around 9am.According to a source, HRD school was closed since yesterday after the end of the school exams and the school had undertaken preparations to conduct the admission test for Class IX students today. However, due to the recovery of the grenade, the test has been indefinitely postponed, informed sources. The HRD school authorities have however denied any monetary demands from any underground outfits. It may be mentioned that both schools are located near the Tulihal airport.
