Manipur Branch gets three IMA National Awards 2011-12
Imphal, Dec 29: For the first time in the history of Indian Medical Association (IMA), Manipur State Branch since its inception in 1961, the branch has bagged 3 National Awards at the 87th All India Medical Conference (IMACON 2012) held at Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu on 27th and 28th December 2012.
Dr. Kh Palin, President, IMA- Manipur State Branch and Dr. S. Gojendra Singh, Hony. State Secretary, IMA- Manipur State Branch were adjudged the “National IMA President Appreciation Award” for the Best Adjudged President of State Branch and the Best Adjudged Hony. Secretary of a State Branch for the contribution they have made to IMA.
Dr. A. Vivekananda Singh, CWC Member, IMA- Manipur State Branch got the IMA Dr. CT Thakkar Award for Community Service by young doctors.
The Awards were presented by Dr. VS Vijay, Hon’ble Health Minister, Tamil Nadu, Chief Guest of the function at a glittering award presentation ceremony held at Hotel Singaar International, Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu. The award function was attended by more than 2000 delegates and the IMA National leaders from all over India.
IMA is the largest professional body in the world with more than 2.5 lakhs doctors as its member. It is headquartered in New Delhi and has more than 1700 branches across India.
IMA, Manipur State branch has been actively involved in working for the doctors’ community of Manipur in particular and the general public of Manipur in general. It has been organizing CMEs and State Conferences for the medical update of doctors. On the other hand, health checkup camps, drug awareness, school health awareness, doctors get together functions, observation of medically important days like World Health Day, Doctors Day, World Mental Health Day etc. has been carried out by the association. The association has been honoring renowned doctors of Manipur for their lifetime contribution to the healthcare profession and to the association annually.
